The Best Non-Toxic Beauty Products

Updated: Jan 1

Although I've always been quite mindful of what I put inside my body, the things I use on it have never been something I've paid much attention to. After learning about the HUGE impact that can come from products we use, I have been working towards transitioning towards cleaner personal care and beauty products.

Did you know that your skin is your largest organ? It is also very porous, meaning that it can absorb what you put on it, leading to many ingredients from your topical products end up not just on the surface of your skin where you put them, but in your bloodstream. This is why many medications that work systemically such as nitroglycerin and nicotine patches are formulated as patches or topical creams. Now knowing this, and reading the ingredients on some common beauty products out there, do you really want to risk all those words you can't pronounce pumping through your system? Its a hard no from me. Thats why I have started using some cleaner beauty products and want to share my favourites with you!

Dr. Bronners Castille Soap

I LOVE this soap because of how dang versatile it is. I use it as my daily facial cleanser and body wash but have also used it as a dish soap, mixed into a solution for a cleaning spray, and as shampoo when I run out on occasion.

It is also biodegradable, made with organic and certified fair trade ingredients, and packaged in a 100% post-consumer recycled bottle. Does it get much better?

Cocokind Sea Moss Exfoliator

Cocokind is one of my FAVE clean beauty companies because of their super simple organic ingredients and low price point. This powder exfoliator goes a long way as you just need to mix a small amount of it with water. I like to use this every 2-3 days to keep my skin polished.

Cocokind Chlorophyl Mask

This mask is amazing for deeply cleansing and purifying your skin, and makes for a great snapchat for your friends of your green face. Double whammy much? Its another one that you mix with a small amount of water which makes it super long lasting. A little trick is to mix it with their rosewater toner instead of water for an extra luxurious mask. I like to use this mask as weekly deep clean with a little home "spa" day on Sundays.

Cocokind Rosewater Toner

This single ingredient toner is amazing for keeping your skin hydrated and is PH balanced for your skin, helping regulate oil production. AKA a must have for a naturally greasy gal like me LOL.

Cocokind Chia Seed Oil

Made from one of the highest sources of omega-3 of all plants, this chia seed oil provides moisture deep into the surface of your skin, keeping your face soft and glowing. A awesome thing about using an oil based moisturizer is that it actually helps keep your skins natural oil production at bay. Fighting oil with oil as I like to call it.

Cocokind Turmeric Spot Treatment

This spot treatment is stick is made with ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and tea tree to help fight inflammation and reduce the appearance of dark spots. This stick is my go to at the first signs of a blemish and its super convenient and easy to apply.

Cocokind Mymatcha Moisture Stick

This moisture stick is so versatile and goes literally everywhere with me. It is ultra moisturizing and great to use as a lip moisturizer or on any dry spots. It also reduces darkness and puffiness which makes it perfect to use under the eyes.

Toms Simply White Natural Toothpaste

This toothpaste is fluoride-free and made without the use of artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives.
